I help people to understand their reactions to life events, relationships and day to day situations, reducing anxiety and distress, and increasing personal independence. Approachable and empathetic, I appreciate how talking confidentially about your difficulties, with someone who is not involved in your day to day life, can help reduce distress and bring clarity.
I work with a variety of concerns and specialise in relationship difficulties affecting individuals (intergenerational and current) and workplace or career challenges.
Although people sometimes feel they've lost their way, perhaps due to circumstances or change, they remain the expert in their own life and experiences. I consider every human being is an unique individual with their own talents skills and needs, equipped with the capacity to grow and the inner resources to know what's best for them and their situation. So rather than tell you what to do, my role as your counsellor is to 'walk alongside you' as we talk about your concerns, helping you to gain a different perspective of your difficulties and identify a new direction which feels right for you.
In addition to my private practice, I work part time for a social care organisation as a Counselling Assessor and have been a volunteer counsellor with Carers Support West Sussex for over 6 years. I've also been a volunteer supporter to participants on weekend courses for widows/widowers and divorcees, helping them move forward with their lives. Before I became a counsellor, I worked as a manager in the business world for a number of years, leading both small and large teams. As a result, a variety of lived experiences assist my therapeutic work in support of my clients.
I understand taking the first step towards counselling can be daunting, you've made a great start by searching for the right counsellor for you. Please take a look at my website and send me an email or give me a call - maybe I'm the counsellor you are seeking.
