I am a fully qualified counsellor and i have been practising for over 4 years experience working with adults in dealing with rape, childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence which is both recent and historical, and also i have experience with a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, ocd, hoarding, autism and ADHD
I aim to offer a calm and safe space for clients who are looking to work on anxiety, adults with autism to help develop their own identities and enable them to make their own independant choices, self identity and development, relationships, issues related to traumatic events, sexual, physical, emotional and psychological abuse including controlling behaviour and depression.
my approach as a integrative counsellor is to work with each clients needs and i do this by forming a working relationship that respects and acknowledges my clients self knowledge and self awareness, i being a range of different approaches to such as person centred techniques in which i look at where the client is at present, and also psychodynamic approaches in which i look at the background reason for present day concerns.
For autistic clients I provide an outline of what to expect from our sessions both verbally and visually to hellp relieve the anxieties about entering a new situation, i aim to establish a shared experience between myself and the client in the therapy room where we explore goals and focus together.
so my philosophy to counselling is that I offer an opportunity to for self exploation with another person, as I believe self-awareness is key to unlocking ourselves and how we experience life, as experiencing our emotions in a safe environment can lead to great benefitsto our onward journey towards self awareness and it enables us to understand our relationships and ourselves
