My theoretical emphasis is both Integrative Therapy and Transactional Analysis. I find using different models of therapy offers options that best fit the needs of the client. I work with both long and short term contracts.
We all live in a society that is increasingly busy and stress and anxiety inducing. Whilst we are no longer being chased by a sabre tooth tiger, our brains often think that we are and so behave as such. One of the reasons I became a therapist and one of my greatest passions is working with clients to increase self esteem, find ways to take care of yourself, and in doing so increase personal resilience enabling you to live your best life.
During my nursing career I spent many years working within Oncology and caring for patients and their families following a cancer diagnosis. This experience helped me to develop my understanding of how impactful a physical diagnosis is and the psychological scars that are left, but unseen.
For some of my career I worked as a Lead Dementia Nurse. The impact of this disease on the brain is devastating for both the patient and loved ones around them.
Many people are touched by ill health and this impacts not only physically but also emotionally.
With my knowledge and experiences I feel that I am able to offer psychological support and understanding of managing these emotions and and a space to explore these together.
