Trauma is a topic that is close to my heart. I have worked for various organisations who specialise in trauma, including Victim Support, General Counselling Departments with a specialty in domestic abuse, a Hospice, Rape Crisis and Children’s Charities who worked with refugees, migrants, trafficking and exploitation. I have worked with many sorts of trauma, including domestic, sexual, physical, emotional and financial abuse, as well as traffic accidents, medical procedures, exploitation, county lines, war, torture, and witnessing murders. I have worked for several years as a Senior Therapist and Clinical Lead of a London-based Therapeutic Service, running and coordinating the therapists in the team. In addition, I have taught counselling at a college and provided training across the United Kingdom for charities and organisations on how to work with people who are suicidal, or who are traumatised. I have set-up several counselling services and created and run various therapeutic trauma groups.
I am currently the Clinical Lead for the Children's Society for all counsellors, psychotherapists, psychological therapists and clinical supervisors. I am also the Director of The Beech Practice Ltd., which provides counselling and trauma therapy for anyone who is struggling with trauma, stress, loss, grief, depression, anxiety etc.
We regularly run a Foundation Diploma - Therapeutic Safety in Trauma (NCPS Quality Checked) for any professional (student + qualified) who works with traumatised clients. This training currently runs in Grays, Southend-on-Sea and online. We also run a Diploma - Trauma-Informed Clinical Supervision.
