I am a Counsellor and Ecotherapist. Working outside enhances the therapeutic work - be it walk and talk therapy where we walk through woodland together; sitting in an open space; physically working together in a gardening session; or using elements of the natural world as a way of helping make sense of problems or issues – the work will help you (re)connect with the natural world and help you find your answers. There is proven scientific evidence that being outside helps reduce anxiety and depression and promotes both physical and mental wellbeing.

How we work will be tailored to your preference and will often develop and change as our work continues.

There are many proven benefits of being outside to both mental and physical wellbeing. The walking element of Walk and Talk therapy literally takes us on a journey, giving us choices of which path to take and encouraging us to find new ways of finding where we are going.

There is often a sense of freedom from being outside, but it can also feel exposed if you are talking about emotionally charged issues. All the spaces I use are chosen for their combination of natural harmony and privacy - enabling you to relax in the knowledge that whatever we discuss will remain confidential.

I have been a counselling tutor since 2016 and in 2021, with Becky Whittaker, set up Step by Step Counselling College. Teaching counselling and listening skills, allows me to constantly re-evaluate my working practices and explore creative counselling interventions.

Counselling by its nature is a very intimate process; and working out what you feel you need can be tricky to start with. Our first session together will be used to set clear boundaries and is a time for us both to meet, talk about what you hope to gain from counselling and how we might work together.

As a member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) I operate within their Code of Ethics in Counselling and as such undertake regular supervision with a qualified supervisor. We work together using a combination of online, outside and indoor meetings.
