Counselling provides the helpful conditions we need in order to find both wisdom and freedom from the difficulties and challenges we are facing.
There are many reasons why we come for counselling, some of which might be because of relationship challenges, low self esteem, long term stress, anxiety, illness or loss of a loved one. Difficulties can show up in our emotions, mental health, our nervous systems and/or as energetic inbalances within our bodies.
I come from a Person-Centred approach, which means that you can you decide what to bring to the session; the content of the counselling is led by you. Its up to you if you want to explore whats problematic in the present, or from the past, or within our emotional world. Sometimes our challenges show up in our our nervous system, maybe we cannot calm down or have very strong physical experiences that are happening within our breath or in our bodies. I have training both within the world of talking therapy and within Somatic approaches that may be helpful if trauma is being held within the body.
As someone who has been involved in spiritual practice/teaching and mentoring I am able to offer a safe space for you. Although I am Buddhist it makes no difference to me what tradition or none that you are from.

I have been involved in Buddhist spiritual practice for most of my adult life being ordained in my early twenties for seventeen years. I completing the traditional 4 years in retreat from 89-93 and for the next 30 years spent at least one month in enclosed retreat. My meditation and philosophical studies are an important part of my life.
It was with this background that I trained in Humanist counselling and later on trained in supervision for counsellors and those offering therapeutic relationship.
Through many of my own physical challenges, I practised yoga and then trained to be a yoga teacher in India, going back a few times to train more with emphasis the therapeutics of Ayuvedic Yoga practice for body and mind inbalance. This understanding was developed further in my practice and further training in somatic approaches to releasing trauma held in the body based on Polyvagal understanding.
